Living a Jewish Life
is our thematically based learning community for kindergarten
through 5th grade, meeting twice monthly on Sunday afternoons.
We provide foundational Hebrew for younger students and explore Torah
stories, Midrash, and biblical characters through discussion, bibliodrama,
experiential activities, Judaic arts, cooking, music, field trips,
and parent learning groups. We hold school community Shabbat
observance and dinners with the supportive guidance and leadership
of Rabbi Tirzah Firestone.

Hebrew
Chavurot is our Hebrew language program
for children in grades 3 through 6. It offers intimate,
home-based weekly tutorials for groups of 4 or 5 compatible students.
Building on basic reading skills acquired in Living a Jewish Life,
the program takes each child at his/her own rate through the prayers
and songs of holiday and Shabbat morning services. Children who participate
in the full program, LJL, Hebrew Chavurot and Crossing the River,
should find themselves well prepared for the day of their Bat Mitzvah
or Bar Mitzvah celebration. Because of the small size of the groups,
teachers are also able to give "customized" attention to
children with less extensive backgrounds.

Crossing
the River is our 2 year middle
school program designed to empower older children as they
encounter life transitions and cross the bridge into young adulthood
and prepare for B’nai Mitzvah. 6th grade concentrates
on Jewish traditions and tikkun olam (healing the world),
while 7th grade focuses on Torah debate.
