Why Give?

Congregation Nevei Kodesh has been providing spiritual sustenance to families and individuals in Boulder, Colorado since 1993. With the guidance of our spiritual leader, Rabbi Tirzah Firestone, Nevei Kodesh has consistently promoted a vibrant and meaningful Judaism, advancing modern and progressive Jewish values to enrich each member's lives. Today, Congregation Nevei Kodesh is a growing dynamic presence in both the local and national arenas. The founder of the international Jewish Renewal movement, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, has called Nevei Kodesh the "flagship community" of the Renewal movement.

As Congregation Nevei Kodesh grows and our potential for making an even more profound impact on Jewish life expands, our leadership is developing new strategic initiatives that will enable us to fulfill this potential and become a rooted community that will serve generations to come and make a positive impact in the world at large. Now after fifteen years of wandering from church to church, Congregation Nevei Kodesh now has the opportunity to establish a home of our own to catalyze many of our community's major goals.

Most importantly, it will offer, among other things, a central place to gather for prayer and meditation, simchas and life cycle celebrations, classes and other programming, interactions with community members, and meetings with the rabbi.

Nevei Kodesh means "Oasis of Holiness," a place where one can come to feel at peace, reclaim one's inner wisdom, and find warm community. Our logo is the Eytz haHayim – the Tree of Life. Our new building will give permanent ground for the roots of this tree. Strong roots will provide stability and give us the room to welcome more families, singles, and children, with Jewish programming that is relevant, socially aware, and intellectually innovative.

Until now, Nevei Kodesh has been an oasis of holiness by virtue of its warm and loving members. Finally, the time has come for a physical home so that we can do more, be more. Imagine the uplifting music and chanting, joyful dance and powerful rituals, lively study and theatre performances for which Nevei Kodesh is acclaimed, all taking place in our own home. Now think of increased social action, profound study, transformative meditation, interfaith dialogue, and being able to reach out to provide support to the greater community in times of need. All of this is the true potential of Nevei Kodesh.
