Beiteynu: Our New Home

The first phayse of“Beiteynu – A Home of Our Own” Campaign is now completed.

The Beiteynu campaign is complex; its charter is to both secure a physical home of our own as well as strengthen HaMakom, our spiritual home, our place of deep connection to God and one another.  It is with much joy and gratitude that we can announce having passed the first three milestones required to secure our physical home (we found and signed a lease on a space, (3269 28th St., upstairs), we raised adequate funds and have enough pledges to support our new space, and we have received a building permit for the interior work needed to make the space fully supportive of our community).  The fourth milestone, a permit to install a lift in order for our home to be accessible to all, is in the works.  We hope to have the lift by the end of February.

Our new space will significantly help us meet our mission. In the next months we expect it to be a destination for learning, davenning, meeting and celebrating.

Our goal of a permanent home of our own is very much alive.  Last year we made a promise that everyone would be asked for a donation. We intend to keep that promise and apologize to those of you that have not been asked yet. However, for this year, in lieu of continuing to formally solicit additional funds we are recommending that all our energies go into working together to create a close, loving, giving and sustainable community that will thrive in any space. It is after we are more firmly established that we will resume the formal fundraising of Beiteynu once again.

Join us in making our first home a welcome one. Please volunteer, join a committee, attend a program, run a program, attend a minyan, lead a minyan, study, teach, do art, read, watch a movie, drop by.  The list is as endless as our imaginations.
