Crossing the River/ B'nei Mitzvah handbook
We have developed a handbook for our Crossing the River students to use as they approach Bar or B'at Mitzvah. Most of the information you need to start planning for this event is contained here in this handbook. This is currently being updated, but still includes a useful Timeline, Requirements, and Approved Tutors.
Nevei Yeladim’s Crossing the River Program will prepare you to begin your serious and intensive Bar/Bat Mitzvah training. Both years of Crossing the River are required for you to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah in the Nevei Kodesh community
CTR is designed as a bridge to Jewish adult-hood and as such is a bridge into our the Nevei Kodesh Community. Beit Sefer is a unique school in that we do not require commitment to the sponsoring congregation Nevei Kodesh until a commitment is made to have Rabbi Tirzah Firestone officiate at your child's B'ar or Bat Mitzvah. To that end Nevei Yeladim provides you with the standards required by our Rabbi, including B’nai Mitzvah requirements and planning calendars.
Attending Other Students' B'nai Mitzvah
One of the best ways to understand what it means to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is to attend other ceremonies within our community. CLICK HERE FOR A LIST OF ALL THE CURRENT B'NAI MITZVAH SERVICES currently scheduled through May 2013. We encourage you to attend as many of these as possible so you begin to feel comfortable with the service and understand what it means to become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah within Congregation Nevei Kodesh.
As you get closer to your own Bar/Bat Mitzvah date, our school director Sue Salinger, school@neveikodesh.org or Jill Scefonas, jills@neveikodesh.org can answer most of your questions. You can reach Jill or Sue at: 303-443-4567
