Living a Jewish Life is our thematically based learning community for first through 5th grade, meeting twice monthly on Sunday afternoons. This exciting journey is designed to give our children a joyous and positive first taste of their Jewish heritage. Students will engage in creative learning approaches to learn about holidays, the Hebrew alphabet and Jewish ethics. We meet twice a month, on Sundays (10 a.m.-noon), for two hours of active and varied learning.

Through Jewish folktales, contemporary children’s literature, songs, crafts and stories of their own, students  will explore Jewish life in different times and different places. Stories around the Jewish calendar year will bring to life symbols, customs, and ritual objects of the Jewish holidays, celebrated in the class community. Students will begin learning to recognize Hebrew letters, and will work with a variety of materials: clay, crafts, yoga poses and other means to allow the integration of this language in their body and mind.

Children in the 4th and 5th grades will also meet six additional Sundays for our special Bayit Katan Family learning program.

Hebrew Havurot is our Hebrew language program for children in grades 3 through 6. It offers intimate, home-based weekly tutorials for groups of 4 or 5 compatible students. Building on basic reading skills acquired in Living a Jewish Life, the program takes each child at his/her own rate through the prayers and songs of holiday and Shabbat morning services. Children who participate in the full program, LJL, Hebrew Havurot and Crossing the River, should find themselves well prepared for the day of their Bat Mitzvah or Bar Mitzvah celebration. Because of the small size of the groups, teachers are also able to give "customized" attention to children with less extensive backgrounds.

Crossing the River is our 2 year middle school program designed to empower older children as they encounter life transitions and cross the bridge into young adulthood and prepare for B’nai Mitzvah. 6th grade concentrates on Jewish traditions and tikkun olam (healing the world), while 7th grade focuses on Torah debate. FOR OUR PRESCHOOLERS!

Babies and Buddies: Join us for meaningful and engaging gatherings where young families and expecting parents discover, explore and celebrate Jewish life. We meet once a month to share in music, stories, and hands-on activities, while also exploring the deeper and mystical meanings of Jewish holidays and teachings and sharing ideas on how to incorporate Jewish spiritual practices into our busy family lives.  All levels of observance, interfaith families, and different lifestyles are honored.  Great way to meet other families of young children!  Open to members and guests.

Led by Patrice Spitz, Rabbinic Pastor student and mom.   For info, contact patricespitz@yahoo.com or call Patrice at 303-459-4521.
