Women of De-Light; A Monthly Circle

We are excited to offer this monthly Listening Circle to women who are looking to deepen connections to one another and navigate through the bitter and sweet of life's transitions together. A place to be heard and to witness. The Hebrew month will come alive through chanting, studying a sacred Hebrew letter connected with the month or diving into the Jewish holiday celebrated that month. This richness from our tradition will be used as a framework for our sharing and our guided silence together. All this in order to better serve ourselves and communities.

This is a multi-generational group in which safety and confidentiality will be held as sacred. Please feel welcome to come each month, or drop in whenever it feels right. Please bring a journal. There will be a suggested text.

The initial circles will be guided by Naomi Rusk (303-525-0760) and Rosanna Better (720-838-9087).

5-Thursdays, Feb. 23-March 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

What jilted lady re-vamps (pun intended) her power by disguising as a prostitute?
• Whose raging paranoid episodes bring him to the brink of homicide and beyond?
• What prophet is there in bi-polar disorder?

Find out the answers to these questions in a fascinating class on Torah and psychology!   Join Reb Tirzah and Daniel Packer for a look into the archetypes at work in three of our most edgy ancestral Torah tales. In this text study we will analyze three enigmatic biblical characters for a better understanding of shadow and persona,
personal and cultural complexes, and the roles of witch, trickster, and prophet. You will gain insight into our ancient mythic tradition and your own psychological journey!  Members, $18, Guests, $72 for series.  To register: info@neveikodesh.org

We are all Bikkur Cholim:

At some time or another, we all need help. Bikkur Cholim, visiting the sick, is a huge mitzvah we do for other people, but it also feeds our own needs for connection. How many times have you looked around at services or when you're picking your child up from Crossing the River or Nevei Yeladim and wondered, "Who ARE these people?" At Nevei Kodesh, we hear a lot about building community, but the truth is--it happens only when we take the responsibility--and the chance--to build it.  Please think about how you can plug into this community. Can you pay a visit to someone or call somebody, maybe even someone you don't know? Can you cook a little extra next time you make dinner? Can you drive someone to a medical appointment? Or run an errand for someone?  Please contact Barbralu Cohen at blu@boulder.net

Prayers and Help: Jessie McInerny, daughter of Sara Cohen, continues her recovery. People who want to help with food, errands, household chores for Sara and Jessie can go directly to the link below and sign up to be a member of the community.  Once you are members of the community,  go to the calendar and sign up for a day to help Sara. Weekly Torah Portion

BeShalach ('When Sent'): Exodus 13:17-17:15 Israelites flee via roundabout route along the Red Sea.
Meanwhile, Pharaoh has changed his mind and pursues. Israelites freak out and complain to Moses for making them leave Egypt. Moses instructs them to have faith. Moses splits the sea and Israelites get across safely. Egyptians pursue. Once across, Moses extends his hand and sea returns to normal conditions killing the Egyptians. Israelites sing a long song (Az-yashir) about God's awesome power. (This is why it is called 'Shabbat Shira', i.e. Shabbat of Song.) Miriam leads the women in song and dance. No sooner freed then the kvetching really begins in earnest. Water is bitter, Moses makes water drinkable. People are hungry. God sends manna. People argue that they are still thirsty, and Moses strikes at rock to get water. Moses' patience is beginning to wear thin. Amalek arrives and attacks. Joshua wins with God's help. God tells Moses to write this as a reminder that God will obliterate memory of Amalek. (!)
