Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Olam means "repair of the world." It is one of Judaism's highest values to help repair the world through social action and acts of tzedakah.

Interfaith Community Table: We prepare and serve one dinner a month for indigent or low income individuals and families. Contact Ellen Brock for details.

Breakfast at the Homeless Shelter: Members of our community cook and serve breakfast at the Homeless Shelter One Sunday per month. To help, contact Don Koplen.

Bikkur Cholim: This group organizes volunteers to help members of our community who are ill, with shopping, cooking, driving to doctors appointments, as well as visits. Contact Barbralu Cohen for details.

Nevei Tzedek:

Nevei Tzedek: A group of members who develop, sponsor and support social justice activities. Contact: Rachel DaleCurrent activities include:

Lemon Tree/Open House: This group of CNK members and Boulder Palestinians discusses events in the Middle East and supports Open House, a school for Israeli and Palestinian children in Ramle, Israel. Contact: Reggie Gray
Jewish Community Garden: In the summer of 2010, volunteers began growing a tzedakah garden, donating the fresh produce to Veterans Helping Veterans Now, a Boulder coop that supports veterans and their families. Contact: Kati Ruth
Tikkun Olam Day: Every year on the Martin Luther King Jr National Day of Service, adult and youth volunteers perform Tikkun Olam. Contact: Rachel Dale
The Moses Project: This project, led by Reb Tirzah, is dedicated to ending human trafficking (modern slavery) in our time. Contact: Jeff Skovron
Spring educational event: Each year, we sponsor a presentation on a topic of interest with opportunities for attendees to take further action. Presentations have included Israel/Palestine 101 and Bridges Out of Poverty. Contact: Rachel Dale

OTHER WAYS TO HELP!!!

Nevei Kodesh (general) and Nevei Yeladim: Our congregation often needs specific help in areas such as assisting at events, mailings, etc. Our school (Nevei Yeladim) needs a variety of assistance in the classroom and beyond.
