CANCELLED: Hebrew and a Taste of the World to Come: An Interactive Journey Through Gender, Music and Mysticism with Eyal Rivlin

Tuesday, March 17, 2020 21 Adar 5780

7:30 PM - 9:00 PMSanctuary

If language is a tool, how has Hebrew evolved to serve the culture who speaks it, and how can the culture who speaks it help it continue to evolve? Both a teaching and a celebration, this participatory evening will explore Hebrew through the Kabbalistic lens of the 4 worlds and wander through the transformation of this ancient and revived sacred language. Together we will look at deeper ways to discover the treasures found in the Hebrew root system, use potent chants as practices to embody and experience the texts, and navigate the creative ways the Nonbinary Hebrew Project is helping welcome people of fluid gender identity into communal prayer and grammar systematics.

About Eyal

Though born in the blistering heat of Israel's Jordan Valley, Eyal Rivlin's heart seems to spring from Renaissance Europe. His passion for celebrating music, dance, psychology, and spiritual growth led him from the Tel Aviv music scene on a pilgrimage of discovery through Europe and India to the United States, and a degree in Transpersonal Psychology. Now, happily centered in Boulder, Colorado, Eyal inspires joy through running the Hebrew program at CU Boulder, performing and facilitating events, playing with world fusion ensembles, and leading evenings of ecstatic song and dance. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Eyal builds bridges between cultures through his open hearted teaching style. In 2018 Eyal helped launch the Nonbinary Hebrew Project.
