Kabbalat Shabbat Service with Janice Rubin, Kohenet Elana Brody and Dr. Ami Goodman

Friday, December 5, 2025 15 Kislev 5786

6:30 PM - 8:30 PMSanctuary & Zoom

Welcome Shabbat in body, mind, and soul with transcendent harmonies, embodied prayer, meditation, and spiritual practice rooted in Torah.

Join us on a joyous musical journey as we transition into the richness of Shabbat time.

Janice Rubin is a singer, chant leader, recording artist, Shaliach Tzibbur (prayer leader), and creative liturgist.  Ordained as a Spiritual Director by ALEPH, she has served as a hospital and hospice chaplain.  During a lifelong career as a visual artist, she has been committed to using music and art as tools for creating a personal connection with the Divine, and facilitating spiritual community connections.

Dr. Ami Goodman, a retired physician in San Francisco, has had a lifelong love of music and the Jewish liturgy. He enjoys giving musical life to the prayers, aiming to enhance their deep meaning and messages via the melody.

Kohenet Elana Brody is an ordained Hebrew priestess, musician and song leader. Elana offers healing Jewish prayer services across the country, and hosts song circles and transformational singing retreats, such as SING A NEW SONG: a New Year’s retreat in the Catskills with master songcatcher Samara Jade.

Elana is no stranger to Jewish renewal prayer. She was the featured performer at the ALEPH Kallah this year, and has led renewal services all over the country, including: LIMMUD conference, Romemu in NYC, Kol Hai in Upstate New York, Chochmat Ha Lev in Berkeley CA, Twin Cities Jewish Renewal in Minneapolis, Wilderness Torah in California, Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center in Connecticut, and even started a renewal community named Or Harim, in Asheville, NC. Rabbi Jill Hammer has called Elana’s offering “Magnificent.”

Elana attended Berklee College of Music, and performs and records as a songwriter and studio musician. Last September, Elana released her debut folk album "The Garden." Susan Rogers, engineer for Prince, said of Elana "Whatever she does will be ahead of its time."

When not on the road, Elana currently lives and offers embodied musical prayer experiences in Boulder, CO.
