Classic Renewal

A journey through the traditional Friday night liturgy, including candle‐lighting, congregational singing, joyful dance, a sermon or teaching, and prayers for healing and peace. In this service the majority of our tunes are familiar to the congregation’s “regulars,” and the liturgy always includes such key prayers as the shema (credo), amidah (silent personal prayer) and mourners’ kaddish. Featured musicians include master pianist Sheldon Sands, plus regular guests Candace Wase (double bass and vocals), Kendall Perry (multi-instrumentalist and vocals), and Noah Fulton Beale (trumpet), along with Rav Bracha (recorder, percussion, and vocals.)

Family Style Shabbat

We meet downstairs in the community room for a warm, welcoming Shabbat experience.  With a vegetarian potluck dinner, and Shabbat rituals of candle‐lighting, blessing our children, making Kiddush (sanctifying Shabbat using wine or grape juice), breaking bread, and later singing grace after the meal, this is a sweet and soulful time.   We also sing songs, play games and ice‐breakers, and enjoy the gifts of our community’s expert storytellers!

Family style Shabbat is designed with elementary‐aged children and their parents in mind, but all are always welcome. It’s great to have older adults join us too, to create a genuinely interconnected and intergenerational community.

Featured musicians include local musicians Kendall Perry (guitar, percussion and vocals) and Candace Wase (double bass and vocals), along with Rav Bracha (recorder, percussion and vocals)

Kirtan Kabbalat Shabbat

An evening of ecstatic Hebrew chant. As we sing together, we open our hearts to the presence of the Divine, generating a powerful energy for prayer and healing. These monthly “renewing Renewal” services are an opportunity to experiment and innovate, introducing new practices, tunes and ideas. We do not aim to cover the entire traditional liturgy, and usually feature fewer prayers so that we can sing each for a longer time. These are some of the most special services we have – come experience them for yourself!
