I am passionate about Renewal Judaism.  After growing up in Providence, RI a conservative Jew and then raising my kids reform in NYC, I became bored of a religion that I thought was void of joy, spirit, and soul.  I turned to Buddhism thinking this was the answer.  However, I always knew I was a Jew.  The conflict was very difficult to reconcile.

Then, I discovered Chochmat Halev, a renewal shul in Berkeley, CA when I spent a year in the Bay area.  It opened my eyes to a Judaism that is rich in tradition that captures music, dancing, love, and spirit that I never knew. Congregation Nevei Kodesh was 1 of the 4 reasons I moved to Boulder.  Ask me about the other three.

I joined the Board about a year ago, and am proud to be a part of a welcoming community and a Board that really cares about our future.  I'm a career coach and give free job advice to new members!

Judith Dack

I have been participating at CNK 2012 since 2012 when I relocated to Boulder to earn my masters in Transpersonal Psychology at Naropa University (where I currently serve on the Board of Trustees).

Many years before that, I found my way to Elat Chayyim, the Jewish Renewal Retreat Center in the Catskills of NY, where I worked as the summer yoga teacher and fundraiser for many years. There I met Reb Zalman, Reb Tirzah, and fell deeply in love with Jewish Renewal. I have served on the Board of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal Board of Directors for over 14 years. I was initiated as an Eshet Hazon, into the lineage of Jewish Renewal Women of Vision, at which time I was given the name: Ezrat Olamay Aleph, “Woman Who Holds Up the Worlds.”

In 2018, I was honored again by becoming the first recipient of the Reb Zalman Distinguished Service Award. Many profound experiences over these 25 years in Jewish Renewal leadership have fueled my deep commitment to “give back” and promote this very special path of Judaism.

As someone who has served in the worldwide Jewish Renewal community, I know that CNK is a treasured jewel worth protecting, resourcing and renewing. After all, THE Great Rebbe actually davvened here at CNK with us and we are especially called to keep his legacy alive! I am honored to serve and strengthen this special jewel, this Nevei Kodesh, an Oasis of Holiness.
