On Rosh HaShanah we have the opportunity to rejoice as a community in the possibilities of a year both renewed (the 'Birthday of the World' actually falls on the first day of the seventh month) and brand new (because on Rosh HaShanah we switch from the  year 5782 to the year 5783 of the Jewish calendar). We hear the blasts of the shofar calling us into awareness of both the sweetness and the bitterness of the year that just ended - and we pray that the new year be sweeter (dipping apples and challah in honey to symbolize this hope). On Yom Kippur we further strengthen our efforts to ask for, and to grant, forgiveness. And we ask God to do the same for us. We list our failings, the places where we have 'missed the mark,' and then we ask God to bless us with at-one-ment.

Join Rabbi Diane Tiferet Lakein, Hazzan Shayndel Adler, Ari Sharfstein and Batya Greenwald for a reflective gathering late in the afternoon on Yom Kippur right before the final service of the day. We will sing some songs, engage in a forgiveness practice and hear a Yom Kippur story.

May we all be sealed into the Book of Life!
