Saturday Morning Service led by Maggid Charna Rosenholtz and Rabbinic Student Emily Stern
Saturday, January 30, 2021 • 17 Shevat 5781
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMMiracles, Magic, and Miriam's Dance: A celebration of redemption
Rabbinic Student Emily Stern will join Rabbi Charna in an exploration of our redemption from Egypt. We will sing, dance, pray, and study together, as we celebrate what it means to find freedom from our tight narrow places.
Reb Charna and Student Rabbi Emily will guide us through playful prayer and contemplative chanting, prayer, and discussion. Together we will explore the joy of Shabbat, the nature of the miracles the Children of Israel experienced in the desert, and the hint of shadow that comes when so much of God’s light is expressed.
Beshalach offers the miracles of the parting of the Sea, the Great Song sung by Moses, as well as the dance of Miriam and the women. It speaks about the cloud/anon, manna, and magical water well that sustained our ancestors against all odds in the desert. And it introduces the concept of Amalek, our great shadow dancing partner, for all time.
Please come ready to enter into the territory of your heart and body, to lift up the heaviness that we find ourselves in, lift it up to joy. If you have the opportunity to read the parashah ahead of time, that would be wonderful!
