Jewish Renewal: Principles and Practices

We will study the principles and thought of Jewish renewal, as an embodied and enlivened approach to Jewish practice. This includes the discovery of our own intentions behind what can make Judaism meaningful for each of us. Charna will weave together her knowledge from her studies with Aleph Ordination Program, wisdom gleaned from learning directly from Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, and her many years of healing arts practice. Most importantly, we will also learn from each other, as each person who comes to these classes has important wisdom to share.

  • January 4th: Davvenology – the study of prayer from a mind/heart/body perspective
  • February 1st: Deep Ecumenicism – interfaith approach. Understanding that all religions have meaningful gifts.
  • March 1st: Praying with the Seasons – experiencing the indigenous roots of Hebrew practice
  • April 5th: Psycho-Halacha, also known as Integral Halacha. Understanding the rules and laws of Judaism from a modern lens.
  • May 3rd: The Gate of Kavanah – moving deeper into intentionality
  • June 7th: Shabbat – the cornerstone of Jewish life.
