Join the Nevei Kodesh community in North Boulder Park this Friday 6-7:30 pm to welcome Shabbat with Rabbi Dr. Jonathan Seidel, visiting Rabbi from the Aquarian Minyan in Berkley California

 

Rabbi Jonathan Seidel studied at Oberlin College, the Jewish Theological Seminary and was a Fulbright- Hayes scholar at Cambridge University. He received his PhD at UC Berkeley in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies (1996) and was ordained as a Rabbi by the ALEPH in 2004. Rabbi Jonathan has taught Judaic Studies and Religion at Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, the Graduate Theological Union, UC Santa Cruz, the University of Arizona, Portland State University, the University of Oregon, Oregon State, and most recently at the University of Portland where he is currently on faculty. Rabbi Jonathan has served as a spiritual leader for several West Coast Congregations in California, Arizona and in Oregon, where he is currently the Rabbi of Or haGan. He is also serving as the Rabbi in Residence at the Aquarian Minyan in Berkeley (a Flagship Renewal Congregation) where he is the new Rosh Yeshivah of a new online Judaic Studies academy and teaches courses there regularly including Judaism and Hinduism/Judaism and Buddhism, Davenology, and Jewish Magic. He has published articles and books on Jewish magic, folklore, Rabbinics, Bible, and Jewish thought. Rabbi Jonathan has worked extensively in Interfaith contexts for the last 40 years and is currently the President of the Oregon Interfaith Hub, where he is actively engaged in creating new programs for the COVID age. Jonathan is also a trained Hazan and has performed in a variety of genres and languages in the Renewal context. His current writing project focuses on Magic, Healing and Hasidism. Jonathan splits his time between Oregon and California and is the father of Maya, Elah and Daisy, and the grandfather of Ilan, born in 2020.
