Join local cinephile and member of Nevei Kodesh, Judith Dack, for a talkback on last year's Boulder Jewish Film Festival's 2020 Shorts Program and a glimpse of what we can look forward to in the coming 2021 Shorts Programs which will open the greater BJFF March 10 - 21.
Judith will share insights into the committee selection process, highlights of her favorite selections, and discuss why short films have always been one of her favorite programs to attend at film festivals across the country. There will be plenty of time for questions, answers & discussion. This is a joint offering promoted by the Boulder JCC and Congregation Nevei Kodesh.
Movie audiences always love the shorts as seen by how quickly the BJFF shorts program sold out last year!
This special medium, often produced at the beginning of a filmmaker’s career, has limited opportunities to be viewed on the big screen, or even the small screen. A program of short films takes the viewer on a journey. The order of the films must be carefully curated with considerable attention to the cumulative effect upon the audience. Provocative, heart-wrenching, interesting, thoughtful, hilarious, and historical, there is something to engage and touch everyone. We’ve included films from around the world. Hopefully, you will be appreciably moved in some way by each and every film in this grouping. But the beauty of a short film program is that if one film isn’t working for you, another will be along in just a few minutes!
Upon registration, you will receive access to 8 short films as listed below. You will have from January now until January 30th at 7:00 pm to view the entire robust program (approximately 100 minutes) at your own leisure. On Saturday night all participants will convene with Judith and Joy for a live discussion on Zoom. Invite your friends. All are welcome!
