“Wake up!” is the urgent call the shofar ignites within us. Each section of the Shofar Service carries a special intention, with a chance to look deeply inside ourselves. During Musaf, we allow time for personal prayer (Amidah), as well as taking on the practice of prostration with the Aleynu and contemplating the year to come through the High Holy Days piyyut (sacred poem/prayer) Unetaneh Tokef.
