4th - 5th Grade Class

Sundays on site: 2:30pm-5:00pm

For this coming school year, the 4th-5th grade curriculum on Sundays will focus on the Jewish life cycle, as the students create dolls that they will journey with throughout the entire wheel of life, exploring the Jewish rituals and perspectives of this grand experience of being human.

All grades join together on Sundays at the end of the school day for community tefillah (prayer) from 4:30pm-5pm. Parents are invited to attend!

Because this combined class is on a two year cycle, the 2023-2024 school year curriculum will focus on Jewish History, Hebrew, and prayers.

Tuesday Zoom Classes for 4th - 7th Grades: 4:30pm-6:00pm

In addition to Sundays on site at Nevei Kodesh, the 4th-7th graders come together online on Tuesday afternoons for additional enrichment. The students are placed in Hebrew groups according to their Hebrew knowledge.

The class begins with all grades together for community connection, followed by breakout rooms with their teachers for Hebrew literacy and comprehension and then grade specific learning.

On Tuesdays, the 4th-5th graders will focus on learning Hebrew prayers and creating their own illustrated prayer-books. They will explore, reflect and discuss the  deeper meanings of the prayers, making them their own.

Tuesday Hebrew on Zoom is taught by Lael Har and Rabbi Diane Tiferet Lakein with a prayer class by Jay Schwartz.

Pronouns: They/Them/Theirs

This is my fourth year teaching in the Nevei Kodesh religious school. I love it so much!

I have spent most of my life in the world of dance. Having begun my professional career at the age of 11 in Los Angeles, I am lucky enough to have experiences that span the globe. At a young age I discovered teaching and it has been one of my greatest loves. Sharing movement that expresses who we are is one of the most powerful ways of of connecting.

Using movement and other artistic medium while teaching at Religious School allows me to combine two of the things I love most; art and Judaism. I look forward to exploring Jewish life and our ideas about Hashem, being in community, and having some fun with all of you.
