February 19th, Pathways to Torah Study

Led by Ba’alat Tefilah Michelle Wolf

In Parashat Ki Tisa, the high drama of our ancestors in the wilderness continues. Encamped at the base of Mount Sinai, the people grow impatient waiting for Moses to return from the mountaintop. In addition to the incident of the golden calf, this chock-full parashah includes instructions for the mishkan, essential leaders such as Betzalel and Joshua, God appearing in a pillar of cloud, broken tablets, covenants, and the famous “Thirteen Middot.”

During this Shabbat study, we’ll look at a few examples in which liturgy (blessings and prayers) is drawn directly from Torah, and how this can add meaning and richness to our Jewish lives.
